Joanne was born in 1949 and until high school graduation, lived in Carbon County, then the 3rd poorest county in Pennsylvania, and in a small town famous for widespread ecological disaster and featured as a chapter in the book, “Abandoned America”, where her first street address was “545 Hazzard Road”.
Joanne was able to earn her way through a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering at Carnegie-Mellon University, a Master of Engineering at Dartmouth College, and a Juris Doctor at the then Franklin Pierce Law Center.
Employed as an engineer in Washington D. C. for a few years in the early 70’s, Joanne was later a Professional Engineer in NH. After law school and passing the U.S. Patent Office registration examination, Joanne has been a Patent Attorney for the last 40 years. Joanne had previously taught school in the inner city of Pittsburgh, PA, and since the late 1990s, has been an Adjunct Professor at Franklin Pierce (UNH) Law School teaching students from around the world, including students that may well become leaders in their home countries. Joanne currently practices as a sole-practitioner (Massachusetts bar) concentrating on Patents and other Intellectual Property with clients worldwide.
During the Viet Nam era, Joanne served in the Army Reserve and held a security clearance, and later served in the NH Nation Guard artillery unit.
In1990, Joanne started her solo practice after working in a small Boston law firm for 10 years. Also in the decade of the 90s, Joanne assisted in the management and operation of her late brother’s technology business, while attending to her parents’ declining health and other life matters, and while resolving longstanding issues of personal identity.
Joanne served and serves on Boards of Directors for several non-profit organizations, and is committed to her adopted community of Concord, where she appreciates the beautiful environment, culture, and some of the hidden secrets of NH. Additionally, Joanne appreciates art, music and other forms of culture, and at times performs music.
